Welcome to Dr Gurpreet Kaur – Psychologist in Surrey, a tailored service which is evidence based and compassionate in its approach. Its founder is Dr Gurpreet Kaur, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, based in Epsom, Surrey.

This practise serves the local population to help manage issues related to stress, anxiety, difficult life experiences and PTSD both for adults and young people.

Dr Gurpreet Kaur has been working with people experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties since 2001 and has worked in a number of services including the NHS, charity and private sectors.

PTSD occurs following a traumatic event. Symptoms can be severe and persistent and impact on day to day functioning. Common symptoms include flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, avoidance and sleep disturbance.

Is a feeling of worry, fear or unease that can be mild or severe. Examples include panic, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, phobias, and health anxiety

Low mood can be mild or severe and can lead to a feeling of hopelessness, low self esteem, reduced energy, changes in eating and sleeping patterns and isolation.

These can include marital difficulties, job stress, family issues, death of a loved one, adjusting to parenting

CBT

Cognitive behavioural Therapy will help challenge thoughts and adjust behaviours to challenge unhelpful negative cycles which cause distress
Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing helps to process traumatic memories using bilateral stimulation (hand taps or eye movements)

ACT

Acceptance and commitment therapy uses mindfulness, acceptance and commitment to values based living as ways to be in the present moment and defuse distressing experiences.

SFT

As the name suggests solution focused therapy (SFT) understands the problem as a means to focus on the solution. Sessions are focussed on the present rather than exploring childhood issues or learnt patterns.

CFT

Compassion focussed therapy promotes healing by focussing on self compassion as an emotional response.

Mindfulness is the practise of being fully aware, in the moment in a non judgemental way & can be used as a stand alone practise or in conjunction with cognitive behavioural therapy.
